Got some new folk in now, some British men in their fifties I would say, nice enough, not particularly unfit or anything.
Anyway, we had floods the other morning due to the rain, not sure what they made of it - I have a feeling it might be a bit rural for them here - 'do you have hot running water?' 'Is the fridge on?' 'Oh good you speak english, can't be doing with all that french' 'English tele? Oh good, thought I was going to miss Emmerdale' 'The gite's a bit far from the car, have you got a trolley we can use for our bags?' Me - 'No' Them - 'What about a wheelbarrow then?' Adrian told me later that they even had suitcases with wheels!
The latest is 'Can you come and remove the cockroach from our gite please?' Turned out to be a flying beetle type thing, no more than an inch long. Not a cockroach anyway. Probably flew in when they were moving in their stuff, I cleaned the place myself and it was definately not there then. Is this the start of things to come for this summer I ask myself. I think I might decide to only accept heavy metal folk from now on. Could be a niche market.
And for car read 'giant red tank that takes up two parking spaces'.
We are working our socks off at the mo. Got the above mentioned guys in, the second lot of heavy metal guys who were here last week coming back for the weekend, a family coming in saturday, another family on Tuesday and another on Wednesday. It's good to have this number of bookings at this time of year, but we've got so much to do and get ready, we're pretty exhausted and it won't all be completed as we would like it, but the gites will be clean (and cockroach-free). Have also agreed to do a neighbours grass cutting whilst they are away, which is good for us, but it keeps raining so just trying to find a window of opportunity for that as well. Our grass is growing like mad too, its wet and warm here, but the ground is too boggy for cutting. You'd think with all the moles we have living underground, we'd have natural drainage (or they'd all drown. ha ha.).
